Crohn's isn't an infectious disease. The symptoms can vary from one person to another but the most common are abdominal pain, especially at the lower right quadrant and diarrhea. Other symptoms are skin disorders, fever, rectal bleeds, weight loss and arthritis.
I have Crohn's disease, and recently was admitted to the hospital for 10 days for being sick with Crohn's. I have been out of work for almost a month now, work submitted a form from the doctor excusing my absence from work and giving a date I should be variable to return to work. Now my Dr.. has written me out for another month, and does not know if I will be Able to return to work even then. The company I work for is too small for me to be covered by FMLA. I am really scared and do not know what to do if this company decides to let me go. I live in a fire at will state where they can fire me without reason, from what I understand. I am a single mother and am freaking about where income will come from if they let me go. Is there any type of disability I can get in the state of NC? From what I understand Social Security will only cover you if you are going to be disabled for a year or more, which I will not. Options please!
You should contact your state's Dept.. of Human Services and ask what options are available to you. There must be some way for you to get help.
I have Crohn's disease and is vegitarian. What do you suggest me to eat? What would be good in my diet?
I heard the high-fiber foods, but need some suggestions on high-fiber food to eat. I tried eating nuts the other week which was a mistake. It was one of the worst pain ever in my stomach. Apparently, cashew nuts or peanuts are not good for Crohn's. It caused severe flare up, and much pain. Can anyone suggest foods which can be good for me and maybe even make me feel better?
No! High fiber foods are terrible for someone with Crohn's. I had surgery about 2 months ago due to Crohn's. They took 16 inches of my small intestine because it affects so with wounds. Eat food that is very low in fiber. Fiber will scrape your intestines, causing more wounds, and I, it can cause intestinal bleeding. Cashew nuts and peanuts are not good because they can actually get stuck in those areas in your intestines / colon as inflammed. Eat low-fiber foods, are vegitarian does not help, but if you steam (I speak as steam the shit out of them) your vegetables, it helps to lower the fiber in them. Take care of yourself and get some expert advice, you do not want to go through what I had to and to be honest, I have heard the worse. Low fiber, do a food log. When you eat all the logs and then if you have a problem, try to pinpoint what food caused it and stop eating it. This is really helpful. Hope this helped. God Bless

i have high ttg enzymes but no celiac disease, could it be crohns or colitis?
ive been having prolbems with my digestive track an bowels for a long time. ive had many tests done and it came back that my ttgs are high which usually means celiac. but after having a scope of my small intestine done it says that i dont have celiac. my doctor is baffled as to why my ttgs are so high. i just had a colonoscopy done last week an i am waiting for the results. but im worried that it could be crohns or something worse. ive been feeling awful for so long now all i want to do is feel good again. i have no engery no get up and go i seem to be getting sick alot and its really hard with two kids under six. i dont think i should feel this way at 26. if anyone has any answers please let me know. tks
If you have a high TTG you have celiac. The damage done to the intestines is quite patchy, and the chances of them actually biopsying a spot that is damaged is only about 50/50.
I had a negative biopsy too. I went gluten-free just to see if it would help and it changed my life. I had IBS symptoms for 18 years, from ages 17 to 35. It got so bad that I could barely leave the house, and the celiac reaction had started attacking my nerves and the mobility-controlling areas of my brain. So I could barely walk, and was on my way to a wheelchair within five years.
The reason I come on yahoo answers is to help people exactly like you. Who have the symptoms, but don't have answers. Because I felt just like YOU a year ago.
I suggest you go to the best gluten-free / celiac support group on the net - There are people who have a full diagnosis of celiac (positive biopsy), people who have negative biopsies, people who are just finding out about celiac and not sure if they have it, and people who just feel better not eating wheat. So there's plenty of room for everyone. There are almost 12 THOUSAND people on this board.

Please, please, please try the gluten-free diet no matter what your tests come back as. It's more detailed than just not eating wheat, so I recommend you come to that forum for more information on how to go gluten-free effectively. Whether or not you respond to the diet is really the only valid test of whether gluten is causing your symptoms. The tests can be confusing and unreliable.
If I hadn't been encouraged to try the GF diet anyway, I can't even imagine how sick I would be by now.
